Yesterday I noticed – mostly by accident – that I have absolutely no support for Internet Explorer 6 on my site. I remember the logic… that anyone who can’t use the site because they’re still using IE6, well that’s their own problem, not mine… and I guess I still feel that way, no question. But! That’s not an excuse, is it? It’s not like it’s hard to support old (broken) browsers.
I need to get my own site up to par with my feelings on support – it ought to at least function and look nice in IE6 and simply be better in 7, and awesome in Firefox & Opera.
So I already have a decent amount of coding done for that – but I’m still having issues with the DOM in Safari, and I don’t know how much of an issue that is. Most people I know who use Macs use Firefox… but it’s a major enough issue that I could potentially loose contracts simply because they’d be looking at the site in Safari. But… one gallery page and a few XML is sooo much nicer than the current set-up.
It’ll be a couple weeks (more if I find a job!!) until I can implement these changes, but they’re coming.
Slow but sure wins the race, right? …never worked for me in Track & Field in high school…
