I have to share this, ’cause I find the oddity of it amusing. I was looking at a CNN article about Live Earth and they listed the locations… a little differently than the Live Earth site.
The show sites are London, England; Sydney, Australia; Tokyo, Japan; Shanghai, China; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Johannesburg, South Africa; Hamburg, Germany; and East Rutherford, New Jersey in the United States.
CNN
So you read through that, and they’re like, Sydney, Tokyo, Shanghai, yada yada, all big name cities, normal, expected, and then, you get to East Rutherford, NJ. Wait – what? Where the heck is that? Who’s ever heard of “East Rutherford New Jersey”? Who planned this? Was that intentional? Are we, as a nation, trying to increase tourism in NJ? Why NJ? Don’t they know no one intentionally goes to NJ?
It’s just weird.
(I’ll admit right here that yes, I am an American, but that I don’t follow or play any sports whatsoever, unless it involves a Wii. Which means I have no idea that’s the Giant’s Stadium outside New York City. Why should I know that? Why do we expect the rest of the world to know that? East Rutherford NJ just doesn’t have the kind of ring of Sydney, Australia or Johannesburg, South Africa…)
Also, apologies to NJ… but I’m from Easton PA originally, so you can understand the opinion. I know at least some of you feel the same about me ;)
