Didn’t I just update this thing?

Looks like it’s time to redo the css again…

Every time I turn around I seem to need to recode this site. I don’t quite understand… it’s like some other person was working on it. I look at my files and think “Why on earth did I title those images that?? Why did I put them in that folder, and …and aren’t those two folders essentially the same exact thing?” So I’ve fixed the images problem, everything is organized now. For the next few months anyway.

Now all I have to do is figure out the difference between “portfolio” and “gallery”, and recode all of the HTML and CSS for the entire thing.

Also, when I updated WordPress’s PHP today, I realized just how dirty it is… There are generally accepted rules about mixing PHP and HTML, and I think whatever code I’ve been working off of breaks every single one. It’s hideous. So… someday when I’m done with all my client work, I’ll be updating that too.

In the meantime, I’m going to be building a section for “CSS Experiments” and uploading some of the new stuff that I’ve been building. I’ve got a few neat samples that I haven’t seen anywhere else, and feel like I could share. That should be in the next month or so.

It’s amazing how much one can get done for oneself when one doesn’t have to spend 40 hours a week working for someone else. It’s almost a pity it has to end (eventually).

Does anyone have any suggestions for a better blogging tool? I despise WordPress… For someone who knows how to code, and design. … I intentionally set paragraph margins and line-heights of breaks to look a certain way on the screen. But WordPress turns the breaks into empty paragraphs. It lets me type out the code, and then it completely ignores what I enter, and screws up my layout!

For as often as I post, why am I not just doing this manually? It’s not like I couldn’t archive this myself, once or twice a month.
